March 6th 2020, my friends and I got together to GUT my studio, and rebuild it from scratch. It was months of planning, and it culminated with pulling every piece of gear, and every cable out of the room. We put in a new desk, new rack gear, and basically ended up with something that felt like a BRAND NEW space. I was so excited.

The idea was that we’d christen it with a cover song part a week or two later. This song was brought up as a total joke. Zero intentions of doing it. 6 Days later, the world shut down, and put the kibosh on any future recording plans.

A year + later, we’re all vaccinated, and figured my birthday was as good of a reason as any to play with the new gear. So we started discussing tunes. This song seemed like the best/worst idea, so it won. It was an absolute blast, and way out of our comfort zones. Fun fact, the Natalie Imbruglia version is actually a cover a band called Edna Swap! Blew my mind to learn that!

Cesar was the real mvp for delivering his ‘punk guac’, as well as manning the grill for his classic carne asada tacos. I’m still full.

Enjoy!
