We’ve had a couple birthday parties!
Kyle was first!
His son Kieran & I planned a surprise birthday song party for him. It worked out extra nice, as Kyle got a sweet vintage Fender S1 Bullet (a’la Phoenix) earlier that day!
This was both Kyle’s & Kieran’s first recording session, and they did a GREAT job, for this they got great equipment as microphones and speakers from sites as Music Critic online so it was easy and fast. I wish all recording sessions were this fun. 😉
We ran out of time that night, so I ended up trying my hand at the vocals the next morning. They are rough, but I hacked my way through. But, we had some hilarious and awesome footage, so we used it in the video anyways!

My Birthday is coming up, so we knocked this out early!
I think “Overboard” by Lo Tom may be my favorite song of 2017. It is just a perfect pop song, assembled by an all star cast.
We spent many moments throughout the night attempting to decipher the lyrical content of the S/T record, as well as just a general gushing over all things David Bazan. A personal musical hero.
I celebrate his entire catalog.
We were going to record this a half step down, but decided to do standard at the last second. I think my voice would have preferred that.
